ACHE Congress 2015
By: Chelsea Van Vark
Students from the University of Iowa Master of Healthcare
Administration program attended the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE)
Congress on Healthcare Leadership. Congress was held on March 16-19, 2015 at
the Hilton Chicago/Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. ACHE Congress focuses on
professional development, while presenting attendees with the opportunity to
network and learn from other healthcare leaders from around the world. Congress
also provides the most up-to-date information on healthcare topics, allowing
attendees to enhance their careers and learn new skills to help them address
any challenges their organization may face in the future.
Students enrolled themselves in seminars that appealed to
them and that they desired to attend. The extensive variety of seminars offered
throughout the week allowed students to: enhance their resume and cover letter,
learn tips about how to approach the fellowship process, gain insight on how to
be successful in your first job after graduation, and much more.
Not only did students get the opportunity to enhance their
knowledge of the healthcare field by attending seminars, students also had the
chance to network. There were numerous networking events where students could
talk with healthcare executives from all different areas of the world and all
from a wide variety of organizations. Students from other Masters of Healthcare
Administration programs around the United States were in attendance at congress
as well, which allowed our students to connect with other MHA students from around
the country.
The students of the University of Iowa MHA program learned a
great deal while attending congress, while having a blast at the same time! We
are looking forward to next year.
