Congratulations to Bri Johnson

By Ian Montgomery -  Executive MHA Program Director,  Clinical Associate Professor Department of Health Management and Policy  Bri Johnson - Coordinator for Executive Academic Programs Bri Johnson has been promoted to the new position of Coordinator for Executive Academic Programs. This position became necessary due to the volume and complexity growth of the department’s Executive programs: the Executive MHA, the Healthcare Management Certificate, and training programs under the CHESS umbrella.  Bri focuses largely on supporting our current Executive students; implementing marketing activities (copy design, social media, open houses, etc.); and assisting faculty, many of whom are adjuncts (ICON management, Zoom class connectivity, etc.). She also provides daily onsite representation for all of the Executive programs, especially when Ian is offsite.

A Warm Welcome to Dusty Persinger

As part of the Student Services team, Dusty provides operations, logistics and support to faculty, staff, and students in the MHA, MPH, MS and PhD programs in the department from recruitment to graduation and beyond.  Dusty graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2014. She found during her time at UNI that she loved student affairs and being a part of a college campus. After working in admissions at Hawkeye Community College and Cornell College she joined the Higher Education and Student Affairs master’s program here at the University of Iowa in 2017. Name:   Kim Merchant Position:  Research Associate How long have you been at Iowa?  As CPH staff, since June 2008.  Before that, as a graduate student and graduate assistant.  Way before that, when I got my BA. Graduate Training:  MA in Journalism, with electives in Public Health (Dec 2007) Research Interests:  currently - telehealth, rural health; ongoing - eating disorders, wellness Best part of your job:  Flexible working arrangements and academic environment where learning is ongoing. Name:  Betsy Winter Position:  Director, Student Services and Academic Program Support, Department of Health Management and Policy How long have you been at Iowa?  I’ve been at Iowa a non-consecutive total of 4 years and in HMP for just over 2 years. Education :  M. Ed in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Iowa State University, Ames, IA; BA in music, Lawrence University, Appleton, WI. And working toward a PhD in Higher Education Student Affairs here at Iowa! B est part of your job:  No two days are exactly the same! There’s always something going on around here. ·     What would we be surprised to know about you?  I really love baseball. I love everything about it. – the sounds, the stats, the strategy, the history. But I don’t like the DH. ·     If you could have a super power, what would it be?  Teleportation.
