  Greetings from beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah!  This summer, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to complete my internship with the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics—the sole academic medical center in the state of Utah and one of the largest in the mountain west. The University of Utah Health system is made up of five (soon to be six) hospitals, 12 community health centers, 22 affiliate hospitals, and 54 telehealth sites. The system serves patients across roughly 10% of the continental U.S., with primary service areas including Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and much of Nevada. There are nine interns in our cohort, and each week we’ve had the opportunity to meet with executive leaders and tour various facilities across the health system. Konnichiwa from Japan!   As I sit down to write this blog post, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and accomplishment as I reflect on my time as an intern at Nihon Keiei Consulting Group in Osaka, Japan. This summer has been nothing short of remarkable, offering me a unique blend of professional development and cultural immersion that I will cherish forever.   During my time at Nihon Keiei, I had the opportunity to engage in in-depth research and analysis, creating comprehensive market profiles for the healthcare sectors in the Philippines and India. These profiles laid the foundation for strategic expansion plans, and it was an honor to present my findings and recommendations to a senior consultant during insightful one-on-one meetings. Ben Schwartz- University of Iowa North Liberty (MHA '26)

Hello from North Liberty, Iowa This summer, I joined the University of Iowa’s brand-new UI Health Care Medical Center in North Liberty, a state-of-the-art hospital specializing in orthopedic care, rehabilitation services, and community-focused emergency care. As the first administrative intern at this campus, I played a hands-on role in shaping core operations and observed the hospital’s journey from just after its initial launch into accreditation readiness.   I have had the privilege to work under Bryan Garter, who has welcomed me to the fantastic leadership team here at North Liberty. On my first day, we had just started Day 1 of the Mock Joint Commission Survey. Within this week, I was tasked with escorting the surveyors around and serving as the scribe for all potential findings.
