Summer Internship: MediRevv
By: Steven Johnson
Hello from Coralville! I am spending my summer as the intern at MediRevv, located in Coralville, Iowa. MediRevv is a rapidly growing revenue cycle management company founded by Chris Klitgaard, an alumnus of the MHA/MBA program at the University of Iowa. MediRevv specializes in helping their clients maximize cash collections for both self-pay and insurance accounts through their Extended Business Office services (EBO). Along with their EBO services, MediRevv also offers coding services and a recently launched Eilgibility Management division. MediRevv consistently outperforms the expectations of their clients across the country and in doing so has brought on more and more clients and has grown from six employees to over 300 since 2007.
I have been fortunate enough to work with many MediRevvers (a nickname for MediRevv employees) from all divisions of the company. From the executive management team to the accounts receivable specialists and everyone in between, I have felt very welcomed and have learned so much already in just three weeks. My main project this summer has been helping launch the new Eligibility Management division. This division will help client’s patients who are either uninsured or underinsured, find funding through programs such as Medicaid, disability and other available medical assistance programs. It has been exciting to see all the work that goes into starting a new division and the MediRevv team has given me full access to any meetings including a 3-day trip to Atlanta at the end of the month for an executive retreat.
I have really enjoyed my experience this summer. The culture at MediRevv is both hard-working and fun at the same time. Last week around 200 MediRevvers went to a semi-pro baseball game and next week the executive team will be cooking for all employees at the 3rd Annual Taste of MediRevv. Aside from MediRevv, I have spent my free time golfing, fishing, and hiking, and I have many weekend trips planned for the rest of the summer. The first three weeks have flown by and I am looking forward to the rest of my summer at MediRevv.
