MHA Interviews
By: Brooke Spencer
The University of Iowa’s Department of Health Management and
Policy continues to climb the U.S. News and World report’s list of Best
Graduate Health Care Management Programs. Because of this, it is no surprise
that the University of Iowa’s Master of Health Administration (MHA) program has
also seen an increase in the quality of applicants over the years. This year,
many qualified MHA applicants from around the U.S. spent time learning
about the program, interviewing with faculty and alumni, and socializing with
current students during their on-site interview process.
Every year, the students in the program look forward to the interview dinners with the applicants. These
dinners, which were held at Quinton’s in Iowa City, allowed applicants to ask
questions about the program, converse with students to determine cultural
fit, and enjoy the robust menu Quinton's had to offer. The next morning, applicants headed to the
College of Public Health to meet with Betsy Winter, our student services director,
and partake in three interviews with both alumni and faculty of the MHA
program. During their interviews, applicants had the opportunity to ask
questions regarding anything from pre-graduate experience to post-graduate
placement and coursework to professionalism. Following interviews, current
students again took advantage of the opportunity to interact with the
applicants over a catered lunch from Panera. To end the day, applicants were
given a tour of the newly built College of Public Health and wished luck in
their healthcare journey.
This is always an exciting time of year for current
students, faculty, and alumni, as the next cohort of MHA students, is chosen to take responsibility for building on the past success of the University of Iowa MHA
program.
