Kevin Dodge - Revology (MHA '27)
Hi everyone!
This summer, I’ve been working as the executive intern at Revology, a tech-enabled revenue cycle management (RCM) firm founded in 2022 in Iowa City, Iowa. By combining RCM expertise with advanced technology, Revology helps hospitals, health systems, and physician groups maintain financial viability, allowing them to focus on delivering high-quality care to their communities. As a part of the internship, I am co-preceptored by CEO Chris Klitgaard and COO Rachel Trevizo, both alumni of the Iowa MHA program!Over my time at Revology thus far, I have gained invaluable experience leading several key projects. My first project centered around technology and change management. For this project, I developed a rollout strategy and training program for the internal adoption of a multimodal AI tool, aimed at reducing administrative burdens while ensuring HIPAA compliance and the secure handling of PHI. Another project I was tasked with required a deep dive into specific operational processes. In this project, I performed a comprehensive current state assessment and cost-benefit analysis of provider enrollment activities across our end-to-end clients. I was able to identify several areas of operational inefficiency, and now, I am in the process of conducting a feasibility study on a different operational model to provide a final recommendation that will focus on improving client performance/collections and generating overhead savings.
Further, I am also working on a project focused on organizational infrastructure. Simply put, I am building a centralized repository that includes all of our vendors and technology systems on the services side of the business to increase organizational visibility and help identify opportunities for consolidation and cost optimization. On a broader note, the consistent and direct engagement I have had with the executive leadership team at Revology has provided me with a powerful example of effective leadership in healthcare. In executive meetings, the team dives deep into problems as they arise and constructively challenges one another, fostering healthy dialogue and cohesive decision-making. During these deliberate discussions, I have observed firsthand the process of establishing organizational strategy and evaluating/reviewing company performance.
Outside of work, I have spent most of my time enjoying the company of my friends and family. I have played a lot of golf, went to the Des Moines and Ames’ farmers markets, saw the Michael Jackson movie and recently traveled to Omaha for a weekend for the College World Series. It was a great time, though I regret not going to the zoo. All in all, Iowa City is much quieter in the summer, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I am grateful for this experience so far and look forward to the rest of my summer here with the team at Revology.
